Rødne Fjord Cruise · Lysefjord, from Stavanger

Electric fjord cruise to the Lysefjord

A quiet electric catamaran from central Stavanger to the Lysefjord, with Pulpit Rock seen from below and a stop at the Hengjanefossen waterfall. It turns back long before Kjerag: book it as the easy day after the hike, not as a way to the boulder.

Electric Fjord Cruise to the Lysefjord

About this experience

Rødne has run boats in these waters since 1956, and this is its easy classic. The electric catamaran leaves from Strandkaien in the middle of Stavanger and takes about three and a half hours there and back. On the way it slows for Fantahala, passes the cave known as Vagabond's Cave, holds under Pulpit Rock, 604 m above your head, and noses up to the Hengjanefossen waterfall. Goats on the shore come down to meet the boat if you're lucky.

It does not go to Kjerag or Lysebotn. Hengjanefossen is in the outer fjord, far short of the boulder, which you won't see. What makes the trip worth booking is the boat itself: no diesel noise or fumes, panoramic windows, plenty of seats inside, a sun deck and an audio guide in English and Norwegian. Food and drinks are sold on board.

Our angle: book it for the day after Kjerag, when your legs are done and you still want the fjord. It is the cheapest trip on this site and the only one that needs nothing from you but a jacket.
