Nordic Paddling · Dørvika, outer Lysefjord
Three hours in a double kayak with a guide from Dørvika beach, near Forsand at the mouth of the Lysefjord, paddling under the granite walls. It does not go near Kjerag: pick it for a quiet, close-up morning on the water.

Nordic Paddling works from a white container on the road above Dørvika beach, a little north of Forsand, which Fjord Norway puts just under an hour's drive from Stavanger. You get a splash jacket, splash pants and a buoyancy aid, a short lesson, and then about three hours in a double kayak with the guide, following the shore into the fjord past granite walls and waterfalls.
This is the slowest and closest look at the Lysefjord on this site. You hear the waterfalls before you see them, and there is time to stop. Food and drinks are included, and the guide takes pictures for you. One guest's tip is worth repeating: book the morning slot, when the water is calm and the fjord quiet.
Two practical points. There is no pickup from Stavanger, only on request from Jørpeland, so you need a car or a plan (parking is at the base). And this is the outer fjord: Kjerag is at the far end, out of sight and out of reach. The tour is for swimmers aged 14 and over.
Find the white kayak container with Nordic Paddling banners on the street above Dørvika beach. Park there.
Splash gear, buoyancy aid and a quick lesson in paddling and steering a double kayak.
Along the shore under the granite walls, with stops by waterfalls and a break for food and drinks.
Paddle back, change into dry clothes and go.

★★★★★Super cool tour! It was really fun, and it was a great experience to explore the fjord by kayak.
