Stavanger RIB · Lysefjord, from Stavanger
Two hours on a fast rigid inflatable from Stavanger harbour into the Lysefjord, with stops under Pulpit Rock and at the Hengjanefossen waterfall. It turns back long before Kjerag: pick it for the most fjord you can see in the shortest time.

Stavanger RIB runs the quickest way into the Lysefjord. You meet on the central harbour in front of Stavanger Maritime Museum, behind the fish market, pull on a flotation suit and are out of town in minutes. The route is tight: half an hour out, about 45 minutes of guided cruising in the fjord, three ten-minute stops at Fantahala, beneath Pulpit Rock and at the Hengjanefossen waterfall, then half an hour back.
Then it turns around. Hengjanefossen is in the outer part of the Lysefjord, far short of Kjerag, and you never see the boulder. What you do get is the fjord from water level, with the skipper telling stories and pointing out wildlife, in about two hours. Suits from 2XS to 4XL are provided, plus goggles and gloves on cold days.
The ride can be bumpy, which is why the operator excludes people with back problems and pregnant guests. If you'd rather sit indoors with a coffee, the electric cruise covers the same stops at a slower pace.
Meet in front of Stavanger Maritime Museum, behind the fish market, by the "Stavanger RIB meeting point" flag.
